World Legal Information Institute (WorldLII)

Description: The World Legal Information Institute (WorldLII) is a free, independent and non-profit global research facility developed collaborately by the following Legal Information Institutes and other organizations: Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII), British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII), Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII), Hong Kong Legal Information Institute (HKLII), Legal Information Institute (Cornell) (LII(Cornell)), Pacific Islands Legal Institute (PacLII) and the Wits University School of Law (Wits Law School).

WorldLII provides a single search facility for databases located on the mentioned institutes above. These databases include decisions of international Courts and Tribunals, as well as databases of case-law, legislation, treaties, law reform reports, law journals and other legal reference materials.

Its relevance to GPA is that WorldLII maintains an online International Privacy Law Library to which GPA members can upload case reports. GPA adopted a Resolution on Case Reporting at the 31st Conference that encouraged members to deposit their case reports in a central repository, naming WorldLII’s International Privacy Law Library as a suitable repository. WorldLII has published an open offer to publish decisions of GPA member authorities in the International Privacy Law Library. Many GPA member authorities upload their case reports to the library.

Website: The International Privacy Law Library is available on the WorldLII website at http://www.worldlii.org/.
